Some good bosses (bird boss in zone 2)
One can now pick up rings after getting hit

Tube mazes (cool idea, sometimes frustrating execution)

Inconsistent physics (bouncing on bosses works differently from other enemies, aqua lake 2 (your jump becomes shorter at one point to force you to use the bubble), sometimes Sonic keeps rolling after landing from a jump)
Poorly executed gimmicks (hang-glider)
Heavy trial & error (blind jumps, final stage, gimmick mechanics)
Sometimes bland music and backgrounds
Weird how it shows Tails tagging along with Sonic in the stills between levels when he’s supposed to be kidnapped
