+
Item trading sequence
somewhat non-linear (choose order of stages to play on a hub-like world map)
interesting weapons (plunger, disintegrator bubble, popcorn shot)
hidden items
great use of color (only uses around 60% of the maximum palette though)
borrows themes from the Indiana Jones movies

+/-
Non-sensical plot devices (What's Goofy doing with a Plunger upgrade inside a locked temple?)
you can easily rack up lives in some stages (Transylvania)

-
No save/password feature
slow walking speed
sliding is a bit clunky (predetermined length on the slide)
acceleration when running is a bit slow
no difficulty options
some backtracking (Mexico temple), mostly simple bosses, some trial & error (island level, can't jump out of a minecart after it starts falling off a ledge), primitive sound design (FM drums, metallic sounding "organic" instruments)
