Impressive Roland MT-32 (PC, AMI, ST, X68K, MSX, PC-98) Music
There's an issue with earlier versions of the MT-32 module, causing clipping in some games. Certain games also made use of bugs in the firmware of the MT-32 rev. 0 to create unique sounds to that version, though it was only used for the occasional sound effect or musical note.
Note also that 32 additional instruments were added for the new version, which carried over to the later MT-32 compatible devices (LAPC-I, CM32L, CM64, CM500, Roland CM-32LN, Roland LAPC-N). The Utopia OST is a pretty good example of the differences as there are two uploads for it and it was composed with the new verson in mind: Old, New (CM-32L).
