Enemy bosses can sometimes tag team attack the player
6 different playable chars (start with 5 rangers to choose from - recruit green ranger after beating him, or 9 if including the three different giant robots which you can choose between after about half the game) - can select character in-between each fight
Story mode mixes side view beat 'em up and fighting gameplay (levels consist of a boss fighting you for a bit, then they escape and make you fight regular enemies that die in a couple of hits, then the boss or another boss, etc. with some HP refill between each segment) - feels true to the show along with the cutscenes
3 special attacks per char+basic combos
Running, blocking and throwing
Difficulty options (easy-hard, number of rounds in vs mode)
16 different playable chars including giant robots and bosses in vs mode
Nice animation and use of color, Fairly large sprites, Pretty nice cutscenes between each level in story mode (some animation)
2-player vs. mode via link cable
Fast gameplay with little slowdown or flicker
+/-
Some rangers are better than others vs some bosses
Can't play story mode as the bad guys
Levels are just arenas that scroll a little bit to the left and right - no real level design
Throws can be tricky to pull off
One boss is called Nasty Knight
Double tap to run
Partial boss gauntlet before the finale (they have greatly reduced health and you get a health refill afterwards)
-
Some control/interface issues (hard to pull off the same special move repeatedly due to tight timing, regular enemy moves sometimes take priority over your special moves in an odd and/or sometimes in a cheap way, can't start blocking during an enemy's combo or otherwise interrupt it, no move list in-game)
Can sometimes (often?) cheese an opponent by spamming jump kicks or ranged moves - in some matches the enemy AI is more susceptible to it than others so it seems like a matter of luck
Some cheap attacks and enemy bosses can sometimes pummel you right after you get up (you can sometimes do it to them too though)
Kinda weak ending
A bit short (<40 min if you play well)
