Graphics-7.5 Sound-7.5 Control-7 Challenge-6/7.5 Story-6
Level Design-7/7.5 Frustration-7/8 Fun-7/7.5 Originality-5
Overall Score-7
+
Comical (slap stick, quirky)
Voice samples (LET'S GET BUSY!, some are really scratchy sounding though)
Good art direction and anime style animation
Ground stomp (stuns some enemies)
Item inventory (only one, but still - you can keep HP restoratives for later)
Some cool powers (slowed down enemy movement, ground stomp)
Good variation
Unlockable hard mode (faster enemies/traps and some new patterns, should've been accessible from the start)
Decent cutscenes in-between stages
Decent dialogue (very lighthearted and naive)
Some good bosses (better patterns in hard mode)
Armor and jump upgrades
Some new level designs not in the arcade original (also removes one whole level though and the box/pipe/bag physics are gone)
+/-
Short attack range (can't be increased)
Mini-bosses before the main bosses
No hidden items?
-
So-so jump controls (can only change direction in mid-air after jumping straight up, no jump height adjustment, jumping down through platforms (pipe section) is done by pressing down which clashes with the ground stomp move)
Short (five levels)
Somewhat uneven difficulty (second stage bosses, boat ride, pipe section)
Lame bonus stages (at least you can gain items)
Sometimes you need to manually scroll the screen to put yourself in the middle when moving into a new section of a level
