+
Impressive sound quality (music/ambience)
Power ups carry over to the next stage and you have an item inventory (three items)
Mini-games (counting game is bugged?)
Some interesting stage design (enemies as platforms, breakable walls, bowling balls)
Air-glide move if you have the winged boots
Alternate exits (no purpose?)
Metroid elements (gain access to areas in previous levels via new abilities - all optional though?)
Exit any level by pressing select
Some good bosses (snowman and onwards)
In-game visual tutorial of new mechanics
Nice intro
Some expressive sprites
Good length
+/-
Hidden items (stars which you need to find 5 of to progress to the boss in each world)
Short levels
Password save (four figures)
Music themed game without music-based gameplay
-
Running set to shot button (no config)
No options (unlockable sound test - 7777)
Slowdown
Somewhat poor jump height control
Can't shoot or move while crouching
Some dead space
Starts off too easy
Somewhat generic enemy designs overall (improves later on)
Impractical charged attack
Can't look up/down
Some trial & error (cannons, hidden exit in lava stage, boss patterns)
Can't jump down through platforms which you can jump up through
Disappointing ending compared to the intro (the end boss is also nothing like the one in the intro)
Pretty lame dialogue
Somewhat anonymous sfx
