Virtua Cop (ARC, 1994)
Graphics-8 Sound-8 Control-8 Challenge-7.5 Story-4
Level Design-7 Frustration-8 Fun-7* Originality-6
Overall Score-7
*1-player
+ 2-player co-op, pretty smooth framerate, good draw distance and decent animation, satisfying sfx, pretty impressive music overall, reload mechanic, partially destructible environment, exploding barrels, five different weapons? (gun, shotgun, magnum, machine gun, rifle), hostages (lose 1 HP if you shoot one), decent bosses, difficulty options (9 levels, starting HP, coin worth), destroy some projectiles and thrown objects by shooting them, chain bonus system
+/- Temporary alternate weapons (not much ammo, lose after dying), unintentionally funny voice acting (mostly amateur level), hostages aren't hit by barrel explosions,
- Trial & error, a bit overwhelming at times in 1-player, it feels more like you're hovering around rather than moving on foot, no dodge move, short (3 decently long levels), so-so 2D explosions, a bit repetitive
