Stunt Kids (NES, 1992)
Graphics-7 Sound-7 Control-7 Challenge-9
Level Design-6.5 Frustration-9.5 Fun-7/6.5* Originality-6.5
Overall Score-6.5
*1-player
+
Decent physics engine with controls for nudging the bike forwards or backwards (long before Trials) and boosting on the ground or in mid-air
2-player vs with all courses unlocked
Decent art direction
Enemy AI shows the player how to tackle each course
+/-
Choose where to respawn after crash (bike hovers slowly)
Tighter jumping controls when riding on the back wheel (unintuitive)
-
Overly unforgiving about what makes the bike crash (would've been better to be able to bounce off enemies by jumping on them the right way as well as to not have the rider fall off the bike from every little thing)
Severe trial & error (no course maps, moving obstacles appearing during an attempted jump, how to tackle different obstacles etc.) Steep learning curve (no tutorial)
Breaking is too slow compared to speeding up via the boost
Repetitive
The enemy AI doesn't drive during bonus stages
