Sonic Time Twisted (PC, 2017)(Fan Game)
Graphics-7 Sound-7.5 Control-8 Challenge-7 Story-6?
Level Design-7 Frustration-7.5 Fun-7 Originality-5.5
Overall Score-7
+
Pretty nice bonus levels (Sonic CD/Mania style)
Decent bosses overall
Some mini boss-like enemies in levels
Mini-boss fights vs metal sonic
Time travel mechanic
Some new enemies and level gimmicks
Save feature
Play as sonic/tails/knuckles (but not as a team)
Three new shields (8-way attack (rare?), homing rock attack, temporary flight (tornado; pretty slow))
+/-
No 2-player?
Very animé sounding boss theme
Need to get all the time stones and chaos emeralds to get the good ending and second final boss segment (pretty much the same as doomsday zone in Sonic 3 & Knuckles)
-
Uneven visual quality (some cheap effects, unfinished shading, crappy cutscene graphics (luckily there's just one?, no hole after the rhino enemies that break out of walls, etc.)
Auto-time travel when running/rolling past a future or past sign (should work like bonus level portals in sonic 2)
Some trial & error and cheap hits
Some difficulty spikes (moving platform metal sonic boss fight, final boss (creator) fight - you need to luck out on the falling platform patterns or it's much harder and the falling platforms seem a bit glitched here as it sometimes looks like they stop falling when they don't)
Some cheap midi sounding music
Some out of tune parts of some music tracks (8-bit sonic 1 final level remix, bassline in one of the other zone themes)
A few confusing level design moments (on occasion it was easier to accidentally find the bonus level than to take the path to the goal)
Some overly long boss fights (first big hands robot, shark, creator)
Have to watch 5+ seconds of credits after each game over before you can try again
Resetting with F2 also resets your control settings
Huge hit boxes for the mini boss-like enemies in the final zone (both their bodies and the laser shots)
Can't skip credits after finishing the game
