Shinobi PCE
Graphics-7.5 Sound-8.5 Control-7 Challenge-7.5 Story-5
Level Design-7 Frustration-8.5 Fun-7 Originality-5
Overall Score-6.5
+ More arcade accurate in most ways (large sprites, more detail, first boss appears mid-level to taunt you in stage 1, boss areas are larger etc.), fast paced, double plane gameplay (for some reason twice the amount of ninjas spawn if you switch plane as the first batch appears), unlimited continues?, easier to use ninja magic (select button), simply colliding with an enemy doesn't hurt you
+/- Less tactical than on SMS since your rate of fire is faster
- No difficulty options, poor jump control (can't change direction mid-air, can' control jump height), trial & error (ninjas pop up very fast right in front of you, enemies appearing at the other side of a pit, multiple ninjas doing ambush attacks, flying ninjas in final level), one hit kills, missing level 2 (so it only has 4 levels), missing bonus level (you auto-gain magic), missing all subweapons (boo!) and melee attacks (makes ninjas much harder to deal with) and a perfect run w/o magic near impossible), pretty cheap final boss (final form is extremely fast and random), weak ending, missing four enemies (rocketlauncher guy, flying demon, staff wielding monk and skeleton ninja)
