Road Rash II (MD)

Graphics-7 Sound-6.5 Control-6.5 Challenge-7.5

Level Design-7 Frustration-8 Fun-6.5* Originality-5

Overall Score-6.5

*1-player

+ Improved handling and graphics (colour, detail, variation), 2-player split screen (so-so framerate), more bikes (three different categories), stabler framerate (but not smoother scaling it seems), improved enemy AI, improved menus, password save, grab enemy weapons to use against them, somewhat more varied tracks

+/- More over the top/loose physics, doesn't re-use any tracks or music from the first game, you can fall off your bike and still win if you fly past the goal line, police that can arrest you if you crash (can be frustrating when a cheap shot made you crash)

- Slightly worse presentation between races, less memorable music (and not much better sounding either), scrolling still not smooth enough at higher speeds, hard to distinguish objects in time at higher speeds, some trial & error (hills with objects or sharp turns on the other side), can't keep your weapon for the next race, music uses only 3-4 channels and no DAC/PSG (except for on the title screen), can't stick around at the current skill level unless you keep not qualifying (reaching first-third place), you can crash from riding into enemy bikes from behind but the same can't happen to them
