Level Design-7.5 Frustration-7/7.5* Fun-8/7.5* Originality-5
Overall Score-7.5
*1-player
+
Pretty intense and fast paced action
2-player co-op
Difficulty options
Three different playable characters
Good bosses overall
Includes a character art gallery with voice descriptions
Respawn on the spot with a chance to upgrade your weapon
Strafing and dodge moves
Repel enemy bullets with your melee attack
Good art direction and animation
Smart bombs
Familiar/cpu ally which you can control the growth of (by collecting either animals or jewels)
Can do chain attacks by using a melee attack to knock an enemy or object into other ones
+/-
Isometric view
Can't give credits or lives to a dead player
Can't save the super upgrade for later (inviniciblity, increased firepower)
Limited continues
Limited backtracking options through levels (limited to a couple of screens back)
No jumping
-
Some trial & error (boss patterns, you can dodge/roll through the third boss's fire attack, surprise attacks)
Mostly short stages
Screen gets very cluttered with shots making it hard to tell friendly and enemy fire apart
Some annoying sfx (characters scream when using the melee attack)
Cheesy intro and ending songs (j-pop with vocals)
Dodge move mapped both to a button and to double tap (the latter is pretty easy to do by accident)
A bit short
Notes:
-Arcade port
