Power Strike II/GG Aleste II (GG, 1993)

Picture
Graphics-9.5 Sound-8.5 Control-9 Challenge-8 Story-4

Level Design-8.5 Frustration-8.5 Fun-8.5 Originality-6

Overall Score-8.5

+
Intense and varied action, good weapons system (easier to catch power ups this time), fun rail shooter bonus stages, great bosses overall, mini-bosses, smart bombs, lots of sprites on screen with little slowdown, difficulty options, respawn on the spot with a downgraded special weapon

-
Sprite flicker & (minor) slowdown, trial & error (enemies attacking quickly from behind and spraying bullets), fewer weapons than in some other Aleste games (only 4), speed is only adjustable before playing
