Magical Puzzle Popils (1991)

+ Unique mechanics (somewhat similar to Boulder Dash or Solomon's Key in a way but with its own twist), addictive gameplay, long (100 rounds), multiple endings (get a ‘perfect’ score on each round), decent intro and ending, sleep mode, unlock a new set of five rounds after beating a few rounds (you can then pick which order you want to beat them in should you get stuck on a round), level editor, save feature, optional hints (press A before starting a round),

+/- Limited lives (seems unnecessary), no weapons or power ups (need to use the environment), while the mechanics seem tile-based at first you’ll have to think outside that box after a while

- Uneven difficulty (there’s usually a few easy rounds after a tougher one such as round 42), repetitive, only a couple music tracks, the hints are sometimes too good and sometimes don’t help much at all, trial & error (some rounds are too complex to figure out without it or require very precise timing), somewhat tricky to hit blocks/spikes that are two tiles away when climbing a ladder (can be frustrating when you’re about to solve a puzzle and end up dying half way through)
