Smart bomb and freeze spells
Can create grapple move platforms (2 at a time) in level 7 - Wonder Boy III/Solomon's Key
Context sensitive grapple move (pretty limited - can only use it at certain small platforms and only swing upwards to land on the same platform and there's a bit of delay as well)
Nice cutscenes (some animation, upper body shots for dialogue scenes in-between levels, various in-game cutscenes; skippable)
Some hidden items
Good bosses overall (some have more than one phase)
One shrinking themed level where you ride a cat (auto-scrolling) and one flight-based auto-scrolling level where you ride a broom (not that good though)

Some control/interface issues (can't cancel an attack by jumping - makes the last two bosses harder, creating platforms in level 7 sometimes doesn't work properly, can't attack upwards nor backwards when flying, high default jump height, can't attack downwards, if you do an upwards/over the head swing attack with a weapon upgrade activated then there's no projectile fired, no spell inventory and no weapon upgrade/special attack inventory - picking up a new one replaces the previous one, can't save health items for later use when at full health, somewhat unresponsive and floaty controls during the second auto-scrolling level)
Can't attack or wait to make special attack power ups cycle to the next one

Can't upgrade special attacks beyond level 1?
Keep finding health items even if you have full health
Some trial & error (if you try to interact with the reading girl in the forest she'll attack you, smart bomb spell also swallows item carrying enemies along with the items, some bosses)

Level 7 is kind of tedious (interesting ideas that combined becomes annoying)
Easy second phase of the level 7 boss (can just keep hitting him over and over)
The music is a bit muffled and in mono
Sometimes generic looking sprites, a bit short (7 levels and bosses then the final boss)
