Enduro Racer (ARC, 1987)
Graphics-7.5 Sound-8.5 Control-6.5 Challenge-8
Level Design-7 Frustration-9 Fun-7 Originality-6.5
Overall Score-6.5
+
Decent physics (jumps, not crashing from merely touching something, controllable jump height, sand/swamp terrain)
Good sense of speed
Plays similarly to Outrun
Difficulty options ()
+/-
Need to finish the entire game on one credit
Can't move sideways in mid-air
Need to enter humps on the back wheel or you'll fall over when landing
Race against both bikes and jeeps
-
No alternate paths (Outrun)
No career mode (SMS version)
Annoying camera (tilts downward when in the air making it hard to see what you'll land on) and pretty short drawing distance
Inconsistent physics (smaller rocks explode the bike when run into from the front, but only slow you down and tilt the bike sideways when landed on; even trees can be bumped into at high speeds when hitting them from the side during a jump)
No multiplayer
Somewhat simpler backgrounds than in Outrun
