Duck Tales 2/DuckTales 2 (NES, 1993)
Graphics-8 Sound-8 Control-8 Challenge-7.5 Story-5.5
Level Design-8 Frustration-7.5 Fun-8 Originality-5
Overall Score-8
+
More exploration (map pieces, bigger levels)
Buy items from shops in between levels (safe, cake, extra life, hit points, continues, a map piece)
You can upgrade the cane for more uses
Difficulty options
You can exit a level by getting a lift from Sigge/Launchpad
2 different endings
Can replay beaten levels (unless you've finished all but one, in which case you are immediately transported to the final level)
No need to press Down on d-pad to use the cane bounce any more
+/-
Partially different level design on GB
-
Some trial & error (mine cart, Mu puzzle, enemies appearing when you are in mid-air)
Somewhat slower paced
Fewer ties to the cartoon show (no Bubba or Gizmo)
Mostly easy bosses (a bit harder than in the prequel though)
If you land with the cane on the edge of a platform the bounce doesn't connect - instead you'll land on your feet
The music is somewhat less catchy/memorable
Some slowdown
Collecting the map pieces is barely worth it for the new level or different ending alone (the hidden level is very short with no new enemies and the boss is a variation of the castle boss - but easier!)
