Dragon's Fury/Devil Crash MD (1991)
Graphics-8 Sound-8.5 Control-8.5 Challenge-8
Level Design-7.5 Frustration-8 Fun-7.5 Originality-7
Overall Score-7.5
+
Good ball physics (heavier ball (less waiting for it to come down) and somewhat tighter hit detection near the flippers in this version)
Neat Geiger inspired style
Blends shooter and pinball gameplay
Hidden options menu (fast or slow speed, sound test, button config – press A+B+C+Start at the main menu)
Faster launchers than in the PCE version
Better looking and sometimes different bonus stages than in the PCE version
+/-
Password instead of save (accessible at any point)
A teleporter taking you to the top of the board appears if you lose two balls
Can’t kill the blobs right beneath the top level of the board (makes it harder to get there without using the main launcher at the bottom)
-
Some confusing goals in the bonus stages, only one board, hard to get the ball into the laughing skull and the larva on the right at the top of the board, somewhat tedious ghost armor boss, tight camera on the ball means you sometimes don’t see the flippers (only a real problem when at the lowest part of the board), less colorful graphics than on PCE, sometimes you just can’t avoid having the ball drop down
Notes:
Difference between Auto and normal tilt?
