Graphics-7.5 Sound-7.5 Control-7 Challenge-7.5 Story-?
Level Design-6.5 Frustration-8.5 Fun-7 Originality-6
Overall Score-7
+
Some interactive objects
Expressive characters (similar to Super Mario Land 2)
Some inventive level design and mechanics (mole section, upside down level, hidden items and paths, use enemies to travel through the air and knock out bosses)
One power up makes the baby start walking
Decent bosses (main ones)
Some good bosses (dragon, final boss)
Decent variety (water, vertical scrolling, upside down and mole levels)
-
Can't open power ups while invincible
Somewhat repetitive (same mini-boss over and over)
The birds in 6-3
Leaps of faith in 7-1
Some trial & error (traps, ice level)
Can't move backwards (to the left)
The main mechanic feels more like a hindrance than a tool at times (bosses, tight sections)
Somewhat slow paced
Can only attack in one direction and when not in the cheese during mole sections (enemies are fast and attack from all directions)
If you fall too far the baby falls over for a second or two (in 7-1 this doesn't happen, why have it in the rest of the game?)
Poor control over jump height (baby jumps quite high even if you release the button immediately)
Some dead space
