Astro Boy: Omega Factor (GBA, 2003) WIP
Graphics-8 Sound-8 Control-8.5 Challenge-8
Level Design-7.5 Frustration-8 Fun-8 Originality-6
Overall Score-8
+
Pretty intense action at times (overall very good flow)
Great bosses
Mixes beat 'em up (side view) and shooter levels
Fun combos
Interesting combo (use basic attacks to power up the big guns) and level up systems (find hidden characters or complete objectives to level up 7 categories)
Very maneuverable player character
Lots of secrets
Alternate paths
Decent replay value ()
Good cutscenes
Difficulty options (easy, normal, hard)
+/-
Save feature
-
Main game is a bit short
Repetitive
Since you get all abilities at once there isn't much to look forward to in terms of player char progression apart from making the attacks stronger
Many enemies require that you spam specials later on (detrimental to the flow of the game since you have to watch small animations for every attack)
Some messy sprite work (and sized up sprites with a pixelated look)
In the first level the combos seem redundant
Slowdown
Trial & error (bosses, enemies shooting from off screen)
Child oriented story that takes up a little too much time
