Assault Suit Leynos 2 WIP
Graphics-8 Sound-8 Control-7.5 Challenge-9 Story-?
Level Design-7.5 Frustration-8.5 Fun-8 Originality-7
Overall Score-
+ Lots of configuration options, gain new mechs after each level (if you do well), intricate ranking system, decent variation (escort missions, arena fights, space missions), lots of different weapons, fight alongside allies, hold up to 5 weapons at once, auto or manual targeting, dash move, jet pack, some huge bosses with multiple parts, save feature (between levels), If you play well enough you'll get to meet new enemies in some levels
- Very steep learning curve, you can only unlock stuff on the first playthrough, confusing and hard to master controls and mechanics, awkward jump controls (like Contra but you can dash to make it more horizontal here), the worse you perform in the early levels the harder it gets later on (because you won't receive the best weapons and suits (which are handed to you based on rank), enemies get too tough to kill efficiently in mission 4), dashing makes you unable to turn so you have to turn it off and on constantly (you can set it up as a hold move instead of a toggle move but it's still awkward),
the weapon range mechanic is pretty awkward and dumb (lower range = shorter sight (zoomed in view) so some weapons give you extremely limited vision and very long range ones zoom everything out too much - could've been solved by just having one set field of vision for low to mid-range guns, then have it zoom out as neccesary), no difficulty options, Save profiles are erased by holding left (eh?), uneven difficulty (in terms of ranking)
