Saturn - Inferior/Mixed bag
Bust-a-Move 3/Puzzle Bobble 3 – DX ver. exists for PS1/N64 - Battle of the Ports: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI9Vk2HQwnY
Donpachi – Better on PS1 overall:
+ Better explosion sfx /BIL, SHMUPS.COM; More display modes
+ When the PS1 version is played in YOKO (non-tilted/not in TATE) mode it wobbles, much like the effect you have when playing Strikers 1945 in Original mode. It's really annoying, so the PS1 port isn't the best choice if you can't TATE your TV. /Edward’s 1CC Blog
- Excessive slowdown and muffled sound /Racketboy, CMoon and Llabnip, SHMUPS.COM; Load times /BIL, SHMUPS.COM
Galaxy Force II (PS2, PC)
– Noticeably lower Framerate, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd38gTmBZOE
Garou Densetsu 3: Road to the Final Victory (NG, NGCD, PC, PS2 Collection)
+ CD Audio (as opposed to ARC/NG quality) /Review by Ancient
- Load times, cut animation frames /HG101, somewhat lower framerate /Review by Ancient
Guardian Heroes - XBLA: Less slowdown etc.
In the Hunt - PS1: Less slowdown (still slow), Playstation mode, backup save, additional arranged soundtrack /Racketboy
Magic Carpet – Worse than PC ver., comparable to PS1 ver.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhjoCbAaXE4 – PC vs. PS1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLVUJr9FpoA – PS1 vs. Saturn
Marvel Super Heroes (ARC Port, also on PS1) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unkmX6oUNOQ (Battle of the ports)
+ Better animation, more detailed backgrounds, less slowdown (?)
- RAM cart doesn’t seem to add anything (?) /Segagaga
Better on PS1? - Racketboy comparison thread
+ Better control layout (infinity gem shuffle), better sound quality and more sfx intact, somewhat less loading (bigger difference if RAM cart is used on SAT), less slowdown in important places (slowdown on SAT throws off air combo timings in the corners of the arena - does not happen on PS1), character HUD takes up less screen space (Arcade accurate), screen adjust option
- Worse animation and background effects (more so if RAM cart is used on SAT), music loops continuously throughout the rounds in every match (it stops and restarts after extended rounds on SAT)
Radiant Silvergun (ARC Port, also on XBLA) – Adds Story Mode (See the HG101 article for info)
XBLA: Better graphics (optional enhancements), 16:9 pillarboxing with new HUD (adds chain counter, optional), Ikaruga mode (unlockable via Ikaruga), online co-op & leaderboard & replays
Raystorm/Layer Section II – Better on PS1 overall:
+ Saturn version has an extra selectable craft (R-Gray 0) and a stage attack mode as well as a few exclusive CG clips
+/- One or two remixed music tracks on SAT /Kiken, SHMUPS.COM
- No transparencies, textures and framerate are generally considered inferior to the Playstation port (making some bullets and enemies harder to spot) /Every comment on SHMUPS.COM
Strikers 1945 II – Better on PS1, Battle of the Ports: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDrN-wI9whg:
+/- Larger hit box on SAT (hit box is somewhat larger on PS1 than on Arcade as well) /Raiden, SHMUPS.COM
- Slightly more slowdown on SAT (neither version is perfect in this regard) /Racketboy
- Worse sound /Limbrooke and Neon, SHMUPS.COM - need input
- Somewhat worse graphics (darker water and slightly more saturated colors, dithering on a few effects (transparencies on others, one boss has a completely black shadow on PS1 while dithering is used on SAT), pixelated explosions (some are slightly larger and less animated?) /Llabnip and Neon, SHMUPS.COM
Samurai Spirits: Amakusa Kourin (Samurai Shodown IV, also on PS2) – NGCD, NG
+ Much better than PS1 version (combo timing is off, slowdown, longer loading etc.)
- Slowdown, muffled sound effects and somewhat worse animation compared to NGCD /OLLIVERs review
Tennis Arena - PS1: Somewhat cleaner textures and smoother framerate during instant replay
Waku Waku 7 – Better on Neo Geo:
+ Redone soundtrack on SAT
- Pixelated backgrounds despite the 1MB RAM cart, slowdown (gets really bad vs the final boss) - YT reviews confirm this, some loading breaks are longer (15+ seconds before fights, 5-7 seconds between dialogue parts), somewhat worse quality sfx and voices /Segagaga, Auction Sniper
-Super Jaggy Low Res Backgrounds (this can be somewhat remedied with a mode found in the option menu but you sacrifice the game's camera zoom in feature)
-Framerate dips and slowdown. /Racketboy forums
Wipeout (PS1, PC)
+ Less penalty for hitting a wall
- Worse framerate and textures, no multiplayer
