WIP Panzer Dragoon Saga
Graphics-8.5 Sound-9 Control-8 Challenge-8 Story-7
Level Design-7.5 Frustration-7 Fun-8 Originality- 7
Overall Score-
+ Innovative battle system, good voice acting overall (main character sounds overly startled at times), nice cutscenes (and plenty of them), skippable cutscenes and spoken dialogue (mostly, some during area sequences are unskippable), customize your dragon and gun on the fly (four types – attack, magic, defence, agility) – brings a strategic element to battles, ranking during battle, great bosses, some memorable characters, mystical game world, on foot sequences have a point & click-like interface which lets you investigate most of the environment
- Some trial & error in battle (enemies can change mode of attack and then attack almost right away so you can’t move to a safe zone or change dragon type accordingly), some dead space (caves), very simple puzzles (hit obvious switches to open the door to next area), somewhat grainy fmv, only 6 save slots in total (?), can’t re-access some tutorials, hard to tell if an item is worth keeping during the early game, very linear (some exploration during area sequences but areas are sometimes just a large square field), pretty cliché storyline (though not by JRPG standards), pop up, minor camera issues (sometimes hard to get a good overview of the area), battle controls are slightly unresponsive
